Blue Ridge Electric's new outage alert system - Text Power -  provides a convenient way to stay connected during a power outage. Using the everyday accessibility of text messaging, we can quickly and easily communicate information to our members. 

Outage Texting

To use outage texting, you must first have a mobile number associated with your account. To enroll, simply text JOIN to 800-240-3400 and follow the prompts. New Blue Ridge members will automatically be enrolled. 

Blue Ridge members who are experiencing an outage can text OUT to 800-240-3400. For those members not yet taking advantage of text alerts, text JOIN to 800-240-3400 to sign up. Enrollment may not be immediate. The system can take up to 24 hours for the enrollment process. 

When texting OUT, if an address or location is associated with the mobile number, the outage will be reported. If the number is not associated, you will receive a message to let you know. To ensure prompt reporting, please use the link below to update or change your mobile number in the member portal.

Power Restoration

Your power may be restored prior to receiving a restoration message. The final restoration message will not be generated until power has been restored to all affected members.

Opting Out

If you wish to permanently opt-out of the outage text messaging system, text QUIT to 800-240-3400. Remember, once you opt-out, Blue Ridge cannot opt you back in. You will have to text JOIN to 800-240-3400 to opt back in.

  • QUIT - Opt-out of outage alerts
  • JOIN - Opt back in after opting out of outage alerts

Blue Ridge does not charge a fee for this service. However, you may incur standard text message or data charges from your mobile carrier provider.
