If you have a serious medical condition and would like to designate your account as special-needs status, please find the attached form that will need to be completed by your physician and returned to our office.  Upon receipt of the completed request form, your account will be designated for special-needs status for one year.   At the end of that time, your name will be removed from the list unless a new certification form is received from your physician.

There are three points that would merit your attention with regard to this special-needs designation:

  • The cooperative is not in a position to guarantee uninterrupted service to any of its members.  During severe, widespread outages, it can sometimes require a number of days before service is restored to affected locations.
  • In the event of a prolonged outage, the member would need to look to his or her medical provider for assistance with any life-sustaining equipment or supplies.  The cooperative is not in a position to address such situations.
  • Special-needs members are subject to the same bill-payment procedures as all other members.  Any account that is delinquent and has reached the cut-off date is scheduled for disconnection.

Blue Ridge wants to be aware of our members with special needs.  It is good to have this information in those situations when limited, localized outages occur on our system.  Those are the times when the cooperative can try to take measures to restore service to special-needs members quicker.

Thank you for the opportunity to share this information with you.  If we can be of any assistance, please contact member services at 800-240-3400 or visit one of our office locations.
