At Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, our goal is to provide reliable service at a competitive cost to you while focusing on safety, service and integrity. Following several years of rate studies along with a look to what we think the future holds for our industry we developed the EmPOWERment rate for our residential and general service members.
The key is to avoid excessive energy use during peak hours--the most expensive time of day--and instead shift how much energy you use to other times of day when rates are lowest.
This calculator tool estimates what your electricity bill will be on the EmPOWERment rate. The first bill on this rate will be sent in October 2024 for usage in the September billing cycle. You can see what your peak usage is on bills sent after July or by accessing your account through the Member Portal or the BREC app.
How to Use the Bill Calculator
Beginning with the July bill, your peak demand is included on the bill. It is included with the calculations on the back of the bill. While this is NOT being used in the computation of your bill until September, this allows you to estimate what your current bill would be on the emPOWERment rate.
Remember, the peak is set only during the 3-hour window that makes up the Summer Peak (3 - 6 p.m.) or the Winter Peak (6 - 9 a.m.).
This calculator is for estimation purposes only. The bill you receive will be calculated based on actual use. Other charges may apply.
