Should a major catastrophic event occur, Blue Ridge in association with the other electric cooperatives of South Carolina has several unique assets at our disposal, which can be called upon to restore electrical service at an impressively short time period.
By mutual agreement, all twenty South Carolina electric cooperatives draw manpower, material and equipment from other systems when needed. Cooperatives work from standard line construction specifications allowing Cooperatives throughout the United States to readily support Blue Ridge as well.
Our material supply is supplemented through our cooperative-owned material supply system (CEE-US) for emergency situations. The CEE-US warehouse is located in CAE Park in Columbia with trucks available to immediately transport materials to our warehouses or deliver directly to the point of need if necessary. In case of a major storm, CEE-US can also coordinate the moving of material from other cooperatives or sources to support restoration efforts.
