    Emergency Preparedness

In the event that a major catastrophic does occur, Blue Ridge and other electric cooperatives of South Carolina have several important assets, which can be called upon.

By mutual agreement, all twenty electric cooperatives serving South Carolina can draw manpower, material and equipment from other systems if needed. Cooperatives work from a standard set of line construction specifications throughout the United States that allow different Cooperatives to readily support each other when required.

Through our cooperative-owned material supply system (CEE-US), the cooperative's material supply is supplemented for emergency situations. The CEE-US warehouse is located in CAE Park in Columbia with trucks available to immediately transport needed materials. In case of a major storm, CEE-US would also coordinate the moving of material from other cooperatives or sources directly to the point of need.
